SKYLER THOMAS LIVE!
The Paramount Theater in Seattle, Washington
"DIZZY" American Tour

The crowd was screaming his name before he even got into position at the top of the stairs. His stomach was roiling, and his knees were shaking. He couldn't believe he was going out on there to sing in front of over two thousand people. He did his little breathing exercise, and it seemed to help if even only slightly. Pulling up every memory within his mind that he could find of those musicals from high school, Skyler put the headset on. He could hear the tone in his earpiece when he tapped the mic, so he knew that it was live. He reached behind him to turn the switch. He had to wait for the music to start before he could walk out there, and when it did, he nearly missed his queue.

"Dizzy," he sang, and the crowd screamed even louder. He started walking down the steps to where Niki and the dancers were already dancing.

"I'm so dizzy, my head is spinning. Like a whorl pool it never ends, and its you, girl, making it spin. You're making me dizzy," he sang as he fell into step with the dancers. The lights were bright, the set was all put together, and the entire crowd that he could see were on their feet.

"First time that I saw you girl, I knew that I just had to make you mine. But its so hard to talk to you with fellas hanging round you all the time," he sang as he mentally focused on the dance moves that Anton had drilled into his head.

"I want you for my sweet pet, but you keep playin hard to get. Goin' round in circles all the time," he sang as he danced between Niki and Tara.

"Dizzy," he sang louder and was shocked to hear the crowd singing with him.

"I'm so dizzy, My head is spinning. Like a whorl pool it never ends, and its you, girl, making it spin. You're making me dizzy," he sang, and the crowd cheered as he, Niki and Tara made their way to the front of the stage for their dance moves while the interlude played.

They nailed each move just as they had during rehearsal, and Skyler breathed a sigh of relief. The three of them stepped back in line with the other dancers as Skyler's queue to sing again got very close. He couldn't believe how wonderful it felt to be out there like that. He couldn't believe that he'd been nervous at all. The crowd was screaming for him, and he loved every minute of it. It was the greatest feeling he'd ever felt in his life.

"I finally got to talk to you, and I told you just exactly how I felt. Then I held you close to me and kissed you, and my heart began to melt," he sang as the entire group of dancers danced around him.

"Girl, you got control of me, 'cause I'm so dizzy I can't see. I need to call a doctor for some help,

"Dizzy,

"I'm so dizzy, my head is spinning. Like a whorl pool it never ends, and its you, girl, making it spin. You're making me dizzy. My head is spinning, and its you girl making it spin. Like a whorl pool it never ends. You're making me dizzy," he sang as the crowd sang with him. He couldn't believe that they were doing it. This was better than any fantasy from his childhood. This was beyond amazing.

"You're making me dizzy," he sang as he stepped back in line with the dancers to complete the final moves to the song.

"You're making me dizzy, my head is spinning. Like a whirl pool it never ends, and its you, girl, making it spin. You're making me dizzy,

"Dizzy," he and Niki sang together, and all of them stopped just as the music did.

"Like that?" he cried to the audience, and the response was nearly deafening. "Want more?" He waited while they screamed and pretended to strain to hear them. "Do you really want some more?"

The music to Move Away started, and he joined the dancers in the center of the stage.

"Moving, moving," he and Niki sang, and the crowd screamed again.

"Move away,

"Spirit changed the conversation. Stepping stones across the land. I never wanted to be a hero. I never wanted to be a man," he sang as he danced and road the high that came from the reaction of his audience.

"I hurt you darling. I made you cry. I hurt you darling. Don’t ask me why,

"Move, move, move away from me darling. I never said I’d hold your hand. Move, move, move away from me darling. I never said I’d understand,

"If I could say this was judgment day, you know I’d be a millionaire," he sang as once again, he, Niki and Tara made their way away from the other dancers to perform their own dance moves while the music played and the crowd screamed.

This was his audience. They'd come to see him. Two thousand people had come because he was singing and dancing on that stage. He couldn't believe it. At that moment, he felt like the king of the entire world. If this was what Heaven felt like, Skyler thought he couldn't wait to get there for real. Nothing else could compare to the feeling of that audience, screaming and cheering for him as they danced in front of their seats.

"I’m prepared to wear my sorrow everywhere we go in town. Ain’t no need to beg or borrow while you’re there to drag me down," he sang as they moved together with the other dancers again. David White made his way off the stage, leaving to change into the next costume change. Skyler and the others would leave the stage at the end of the song to change as well.

"Justice, right?" the crowd screamed before he could say the words himself.

"I need you so. I can’t let go," he sang drawing out the last word and throwing his head back.

"I never said I’d hold your hand. Why don’t you move?

"Move, move, move away from me darling. I never said I'd hold your hand. Move, move, move away from me darling. I never said I'd understand. Move, move, move away from me darling. I never said I'd hold your hand. Move, move, move away from me darling. I never said I'd understand," he sang as the feeling of two thousand screaming fans washed over him.

"Why don't you move. Move away," he sang as he and the dancers stopped moving and the music stopped.

The drummer started a beat, and the rest of the band started playing a slower version of Tell Me Lies as David returned the stage, and Skyler and the others drifted offstage to change. David danced around in his white suit. He played with the white top hat on his head and dazzled the audience with his footwork.

"That was awesome," cried Skyler as he reached his dressing room. Madonna was smiling from ear to ear at him.

"You did great, Sky," she said. "I told you it would all be fine."

"I can't believe how good it feels to be out there," he breathed as he changed into the white suit.

"It only gets better," she laughed, handing him his top hat as he hurried out of the dressing room to return to the stage.

He met up with the other dancers and they scattered onto the stage, making the audience scream again. Skyler fell into step with David and Frank Cole as the music's tempo changed to match the way the song was actually played. They danced there at the front of the stage, tilting their hats down their foreheads and then snapping them off their heads to throw them in the air and catch them as they put them back on.

"If I could turn the page, in time then I’d rearrange just a day or two," he sang as he twisted his hat on his head.

"Close my, close my, close my eyes," he sang together with David and Frank.

"But I couldn’t find a way, so I’ll settle for one day to believe in you," he sang on his own, twisting his hat again.

"Tell me, tell me, tell me lies," he sang together with David and Frank again.

"Tell me lies, tell me sweet little lies," he sang alone, dancing between David and Frank.

"Tell me lies, tell me, tell me lies," sang David and Frank.

"Oh, no, no you can’t disguise," sang Skyler, falling in between them again.

"You can’t disguise, no you can’t disguise." sang David and Frank as they lined up.

"Tell me lies, tell me sweet little lies," sang Skyler, dancing between them as the two stood still.

"Although I’m not making plans, I hope that you understand there’s a reason why," he sang, twisting his hat on his head again.

"Close your, close your, close your eyes," the three sang together.

"No more broken hearts. We’re better off apart, so let’s give it a try," he sang, twisting his hat.

"Tell me, tell me, tell me lies," sang the trio as they lined up again.

"Tell me lies, tell me sweet little lies," sang Skyler, dancing between them again as they stood still.

"Tell me lies, tell me, tell me lies," he sang with them as they each twisted their hats, one after the other and back again.

"Oh, no, no you can’t disguise," he sang, letting his hat tumbled down his arm to his hand. He closed his hand on the hat and put it back on his head.

"You can’t disguise, no you can’t disguise," they sang together as David and Frank imitated what Skyler had done with their own hats.

"Tell me lies, tell me sweet little lies," sang Skyler as he danced between them again.

"If I could turn the page, in time then I’d rearrange just a day or two," he sang.

"Close my, close my, close my eyes," they sang together, twisting their hats again.

"But I couldn’t find a way, so I’ll settle for one day to believe in you," he sang

"Tell me, tell me, tell me lies," they all three sang, tipping their hats down their foreheads and folding their arms as the music stopped.

The crowd screamed, and Skyler winked at them. The dancers made their way off the stage to change, and only Niki and Skyler stayed on stage. The band began to slowly play the music to Calling You as Niki and Skyler sat down on the stools that had been sat out on the stage for them. They took off their headsets and picked up the hand held microphones.

"A desert road from Vegas to nowhere, someplace better than where you've been. A coffee machine that needs some fixin' in a little cafe just around the bend," sang Skyler, making the crowd scream again.

"I am calling you," sang Niki.

"Can't you hear me?" he sang.

"I am calling you," she sang.

"A hot dry wind blows right through me. The baby's crying and I can't sleep, but we both know that a change is coming. Come in closer, sweet release," he sang in his best haunted voice.

"I am calling you," sang Niki, making the hair on the back of Skyler's neck stand up.

"Can't you hear me?" he sang, turning to look at her.

"I am calling you," she sang, closing her eyes and drawing out the last word.

"Desert road from Vegas to nowhere. Someplace better than where you've been," he sang, getting to his feet.

"I am calling you," sang Niki as she stood and moved beside him.

"Can't you hear me?" he sang, facing her.

"I am calling you," she sang.

"A hot dry wind blows right through me, but we both know that a change is coming," he sang to the audience.

"I am calling you," she sang, looking at Skyler.

"Can't you hear me?" he sang, looking back at her.

"I am calling you," she sang again.

"Why can't you hear me?" he sang in a voice that sounded pained.

"I am calling you," she sang, drawing out the last word until after the music stopped.

"I saw you on the street with him. Guess that explains the state I'm in. You walked away and left me behind. The words you said just won't leave my mind. I keep playing that day over and over in my head, remembering the harsh words I said. If I could just take it all back you know I would. I spend nights wishing that I could," he sang, and the crowd cheered again.

"Come back to me," he sang.

"Let me show you my heart," answered Niki.

"Come back to me," he sang.

"I can't stand being apart," she replied.

"Come back to me," he sang.

"Let me give you my love," she replied.

"I see you in passing and my heart breaks every time. If she can't make you happy, bring your heart back to mine. I know the things I said were hurtful, and I tell myself I deserve this pain. Is there nothing I can do to take it all back, turn back the clock and have you here again before that. You know I still love you, just let me show you again," sang Niki, and the crowd screamed.

"Come back to me," she sang to him.

"Help me pick up all the pieces," he replied.

"Come back to me," she sang again.

"I just can't believe this," he replied.

"Come back to me," she sang.

"Let me give you my love," he sang.

The music played and they put their arms around each other, making the crowd scream again. He smiled at Niki, and she smiled back. The show was going better than he'd ever dreamed it would, and Niki was so proud of him.

"Can you feel my heart breaking," she sang as she held him.

"With every breath I'm taking," he replied.

"Can't you see that I'm sorry," sang Niki.

"I can't believe that we're parting," he sang.

"Come back to me," she sang to him.

"Let me show you heart," he sang.

"Come back to me," she sang to him again.

"I can't stand being apart," he sang back.

"Come back to me," she sang sadly.

"Let me take it all back," he replied.

"Come back to me," she sang.

"I just can't deal with things like that," he sang.

"Come back to me," she sang.

"Let me show you that I'm ready," he sang.

"Come back to me," she sang again.

"Let me give you my love," he sang in reply.

"If we could only get past this, we could be together again," he sang to her.

"My heart can't stop breaking every time I see you again," she sang back.

"Come back to me," they sang together as the music stopped and the crowd screamed.

They wrapped their arms around each other tightly, and he kissed her just before the lights were turned down. Releasing her, he watched as she picked up the stool she'd sat on and carried with her off stage. That was when the piano started to play, and Skyler took his seat on his own stool again to sing Alone.

"Thought I heard your voice yesterday. I couldn't think of anything to say. Your memory leaves my heart shaken. Its been a year since you were taken. Life without you is dark and cold. My heart breaks every time our story's told. I wonder how I can ever be free, and if your memory will ever just let me be," he sang as the spotlight was turned on and trained on him. The crowd cheered again, and Skyler could see lighters flickering among the audience. It made him smile.

"Just leave me alone and let me live my life, and don't pretend you don't realize what the sound of your voice can do to my heart. Just looking at you tears me apart," the audience sang with him as they swayed back and forth to the song.

"My friends think I should go out again. Then your face comes to mind and I can't say when. Without you, my life is an emotional waste land. Remembering only the touch of your hand. Hours go by and I stare off into space just clutching the memory of your face," he sang, looking out at all of those lighters. His heart had never felt so full before. He couldn't believe how they loved this song.

"Just leave me alone and let me live my life. I can't go on like this and you know its not right. Being without you is breaking my heart. Thinking of you tears me apart," they sang with him, and he smiled again.

"I'm here again to talk to you. I wonder what the hell I'm gonna do. I know that I have to get over you. My problem is that I just don't have a clue how to rid my mind of fact that you're gone. So now to you, I sing this song," he sang.

"Just leave me alone and let me live my life. I can't let go of you and that's not right. Memories of you are breaking my heart. Talking about you tears me apart," he sang as the crowd sang the words with him.

"Are you listening? Can you hear me? You've got to break these chains and let me be. I can't go on like this every day. Life has to go on some way," he sang as the crowd swayed, lighters held high.

"Why won't you leave me alone and let me live my life. Your memory cuts through me just like a knife. I can't go on with this broken heart. Missing you tears me apart," the crowd sang with him.

"Just leave me alone and let me live my life, and don't pretend you don't realize, what missing you does to my heart. Being without you tears me apart," he sang as the spotlight was turned off, and the crowd screamed louder than they had since he stepped onto the stage for the first time that night.

He made his way off stage as the other dancers came back. He ran to his dressing room to change into the second to last costume of the night. Madonna was smiling at him when they got inside the dressing room. She gave him a quick hug and then told him how proud she was as he changed into the ripped black jeans. He would be shirtless for this song, so he wiped at his sweaty torso with a towel.

"I couldn't believe how they sang with me out there," he breathed before taking a drink from the water bottle she handed him. He poured the remainder of the water over his head. Shaking his head, he laughed out loud. "Its amazing!"

"You'd better get back out there," she laughed.

He raced out to the steps and took his place at the top of the platform as the music changed, and Over And Over began. He started to sing as he made his way to the bottom of the stairs with the dancers each on a different step above him.

"Hurry up, I just can't wait. I gotta do it now I can't be late. I know I'm not afraid I gotta get out the door. If I don't do it now I won't get anymore. You try to criticize my drive. If I lose I don't feel paralyzed. It's not the game it's how you play. And if I fall I get up again," he sang as he danced on his step to the music.

"I get up again, over and over. I get up again, over and over. I get up again, over and over. I get up again, over and over," they sang together, zigzagging back and forth in opposite directions of each other.

"Got past my first mistake. I'll only give as much as I can take. You're never gonna see me standin' still. I'm never gonna stop 'till I get my fill. It doesn't matter who you are. It's what you do that takes you far. And if at first you don't succeed, here's some advice that you should heed," he said, dancing on his step.

"You get up again, over and over. You get up again, over and over. You get up again, over and over. You get up again, over and over," they sang, as they zigzagged back and forth again.

"I'm not afraid to say I hear a different beat, oh. And I'll go out in the street, yeah. And I will shout it again. From the highest mountain," he sang, and they all stated to dance as the music played for their interlude.

"Hurry up. Hurry up. Hurry up," they sang together as they danced.

"Hurry up, I just can't wait. I gotta do it now I can't be late. I know I'm not afraid I gotta get out the door. If I don't do it now I won't get anymore. You try to criticize my drive. If I lose I don't feel paralyzed. It's not the game it's how you play. And if I fall I get up again," he sang, dancing on his step.

"I get up again, over and over. I get up again, over and over. I get up again, over and over. I get up again, over and over," they sang as they zigzagged back and forth again. Then they lined up behind Skyler and sank down on their haunches.

"I'm not afraid to say I hear a different beat, oh. And I'll go out in the streets, yea. And I will shout it again. From the highest mountain," he sang, dancing around until the last word was out, and then he stood still.

"Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah," they sang, each standing up and adding their voice on the next "ah."

"Shout it, shout it, shout it, ah," sang Skyler, throwing his head back and drawing the last word out.

"Over and over. Over and over. Over and over. Over and over," they sang together, zigzagging back and forth until the music stopped again, and the crowd screamed.

Skyler stepped down off of the step he'd been standing on and made his way to the front of the stage, making the crowd scream louder. He bowed, and the screams intensified. He waved at the audience, and they screamed for him again. They'd rehearsed this part a million times, and he had to get it right. He just hoped that he remembered everyone's names.

"All right everyone," he cried. "Fall in." The dancers all lined up around him. "Its time to say goodnight to Seattle. Niki."

"Good night, Seattle," cried Niki, waving her hand at them as they cheered.

"Seattle, please say goodnight to Niki Harris," cried Skyler, and a collective "Goodnight, Niki" answered him. He kissed her again before she bowed one last time and ran off stage.

"Tara," he said, and Tara came to stand beside him. "Its time to say goodnight to Seattle, Tara."

"Good night, Seattle," cried Tara, waving at the crowd as they cheered for her.

"Seattle, please say goodnight to Tara Neil," cried Skyler, and the crowd said goodnight to her. He kissed her, and then she bowed and raced off the stage.

"David," cried Skyler, and David stepped up next to him. "Its time to say good night to Seattle, David."

"Good night, Seattle," cried David, waving at the crowd as they cheered.

"Seattle, please say goodnight to David White," cried Skyler.

David bowed when they said goodnight, and then he waved one last time before he jogged off stage. Skyler laughed as he went.

"Lawrence," cried Skyler, and Lawrence came to stand beside him. "Its time to say goodnight to Seattle, Lawrence."

"Good night, Seattle," said Lawrence.

"Seattle, please say goodnight to Lawrence Mikels," cried Skyler, and as the crowd said goodnight, Lawrence waved, bowed and then jogged off stage.

"Frank," cried Skyler when Lawrence was off stage. Frank came to stand beside Skyler. "Its time to say goodnight to Seattle, Frank."

"Good night, Seattle," cried Frank, and the crowd responded. He waved before he bowed and then jogged off stage.

Skyler repeated this with each member of the band as well, and he was happy with himself when he realized that he'd remembered everyone's names. As soon as the last member of the band was off stage, the lights went down again. Skyler put on the shirt that was waiting for him by the stool that Andre, the drummer, had left for him, and he picked up his guitar and sat down. The spot light blinked on and trained on him. The crowd started screaming again.

"I didn't say goodnight, Seattle," laughed Skyler, and they screamed louder. "I've got one more song for you tonight. This one is really special to me, and if you know it, please help me out."

He started to play his guitar, and the crowd cheered as they recognized what he was playing. Skyler fought tears as he played the chords for the beginning of How Do You Get That Lonely.

"It was just another story written on the second page underneath another football score. It said he was only eighteen, a boy about my age. They found him face down on the bedroom floor," he sang, and the crowd sang with him.

"There'll be services on Friday at the local funeral home. Then out on a lonely highway, they'll lay him beneath a stone,

"How do you get that lonely, how do you hurt that bad, to make you make the call, that having no life at all is better than the life that you had? How do you feel so empty, you want to let it all go? How do you get that lonely, and nobody know?" he sang as he lost the battle with his tears. The crowd screamed when they saw the tears flowing down his cheeks.

"Did his girlfriend break up with him? Did he buy or steal that gun? Did he lose a fight with drugs or alcohol? Did his Mom and Dad forget to say I love you son? Did no one see the writing on the wall?" he sang through tears, and the crowd continued to sing with him. Once again, he saw the lighters flickering, and he silently said a prayer for Peter.

"I'm not blaming anybody, we all do the best we can. I know hindsight's 20/20, but I still don't understand,

"How do you get that lonely, how do you hurt that bad, to make you make the call, that having no life at all is better than the life that you had? How do you feel so empty, you want to let it all go? How do you get that lonely, and nobody know?" he sang and then he couldn't stop a sob from tearing loose as his shoulders shook. The crowd swayed, and he could see tears running down the faces in the front row.

"It was just another story printed on the second page underneath the another football score," he sang, and he put his head down and cried.

"Thank you so much, Seattle," he cried when he could get his tears to stop. "I love you! Good night, Seattle!"

The spotlight winked out, and the crowd screamed. Skyler stood on shaky legs and made his way off the stage.
